Adirex

WHAT IS ADIREX AND WHO IS IT INTENDED FOR?

ADIREX is a combination of 5 clinically proven ingredients which help support a healthy gastrointestinal tract. It maintains the normal frequency of bowel movements, the physiological concentration of water and salt, and the consistency of intestinal contents. It also supports the natural balance of gastrointestinal microflora.

Each sachet of ADIREX contains:

  • Probiotic yeasts: Saccharomyces boulardii, 250 mg (5 billion vital cells*)
  • A Lactobacillus probiotic complex, including:

- Lactobacillus rhamnosus Rosell-11 (1.9 billion vital cells*)

- Lactobacillus helveticus Rosell-52 (100 million vital cells*)

  • Prebiotics: Mannan-oligosaccharides (MOS), 200 mg
  • Zinc, 5 mg

*Number of vital cells at the point of manufacture.

ADIREX is a dietary supplement.

WHAT IS DIARRHOEA?

Diarrhoea is the frequent passing of loose or watery faeces. Based on its modality, diarrhoea is classified as acute or chronic, and is usually a symptom of a gastrointestinal disorder that may be caused by different factors.

The most common causes for acute diarrhoea include:

- Bacteria and viruses;

- Travels (traveller’s diarrhoea is associated with the travelrelated stress and the body’s vulnerability to bacteria in the new location);

- Use of medications (for example, antibiotics).

  • The most common causes for chronic diarrhoea include:

- Chronic infections in the gastrointestinal tract;

- Intestinal flora imbalance;

- Intolerance to certain substances found in food (lipids, gluten, lactose);

- Inflammatory bowel disease;

- Metabolic disorders.

A number of different types of anti-diarrhoea products are available. It is important to choose an appropriate product for the treatment of each specific type of diarrhoea.

As diarrhoea is a self-cleansing defence mechanism, pathogenic agents and their toxins will remain in the intestines if it is stopped unnaturally, and the recovery and recuperation processes will slow down. Therefore, the best approach is treat diarrhoea naturally, without blocking the normal intestinal passage or its physiological cleansing processes which allow recovery from pathogenic microorganisms and their toxins. This is achieved by using clinically proven anti-diarrhoeal ingredients such as probiotic yeasts, lactobaccilli, prebiotics, and microelements. These substances neutralise pathogenic microorganisms and their toxins, discontinue water and electrolyte loss, and restore the intestinal wall damaged by pathogens, as well as the intestinal microflora balance.

HOW DO THE INGREDIENTS IN ADIREX WORK?

Saccharomyces boulardii is an exceptionally resilient microorganism whichis not affected by antibiotics, survives in gastric acid, and passes through the intestines, while helping cleanse intestinal flora. It maintains the physiological barrier function of intestinal epithelia and its normal water and salt permeability. Saccharomyces boulardii helps support healthy epithelial cells and maintains the intestinal electrolyte and enzyme balance. It supports the normal frequency of bowel movements and the consistency of intestinal contents. Though resilient to antibiotics and acids, Saccharomyces boulardii is very sensitive to oxygen. Upon coming into contact with air, it dies very quickly and its effect is lost. Therefore, the production process of ADIREX employs a special technology called nitrogen blanketing: the product is packed in an oxygen-free environment to ensure the viability of Saccharomyces boulardii throughout the product’s entire shelf-life.

The probiotics Lactobacillus rhamnosus Rosell-11 and Lactobacillus helveticus Rosell-52 are two well-studied strains of Lactobacillus which have a clinically proven, favourable effect on the balance and normal functioning of intestinal flora. These probiotic strains bind to the intestinal wall and maintain its healthy condition and normal function. They also interact with immune system cells in the intestinal tract and therefore have a beneficial effect on local immunity, while also contributing to gastrointestinal system health.

Mannan-oligosaccharides (MOS) are prebiotics which are, in essence, saccharides with a specific structure and origin (from the cellular wall of yeasts). Probiotics feed on MOS, and increased intake of MOS leads to an increase of probiotics in the intestines, supporting  their effect on local immunity of the intestinal tract. Furthermore, the specific structure of MOS prevents ‘bad’ bacteria from building up in the intestines, helping to balance the intestinal flora.

Zinc is a microelement which influences ionic transport in the intestines, provides an optimal physiological concentration of water and salt, and enables consistency of intestinal contents.
