Learn More

Folic acid is a water-soluble B-vitamin (B9) that acts as a coenzyme in the synthesis of amino acids and nucleic acids. It plays an essential role in cellular development, especially during early stages of human embryonic growth. This is particularly true for the neural tube, which forms the brain and spinal cord.

Supplementing with folic acid boosts the mother’s folate levels. Low folate during pregnancy increases the risk of neural tube defects in the developing fetus.

Taking an additional daily dose of 400 µg of folic acid, starting at least one month before conception and continuing for the first three months, provides maximum benefit.

Folic acid is also vital for the production and metabolism of erythrocytes (red blood cells), which carry oxygen and energy throughout the body.
Neopholic® is recommended for pregnant women in their first trimester, women planning to become pregnant, and individuals who may not be getting enough folic acid from food sources. Regular and proper use of Neopholic® supports a healthy pregnancy, the development of a strong and intact fetal neural tube, and the overall growth of the newborn’s organs and tissues, significantly lowering the risk of spina bifida and other congenital conditions.

Besides benefiting the fetus, Neopholic also promotes the mother’s health by:

    Aiding blood and red blood cell production, critical during pregnancy when the body’s needs increase.
    Supporting a healthy immune system.
    Assisting in the body’s recovery processes and reducing feelings of fatigue and weakness.

Directions on administration

How should Neopholic® be taken?

The daily need of folic acid for most adults is 0.2 mg (200 μg). During pregnancy, the body's need for folic acid increases. A daily dose of 0.4 mg (400 μg) is globally recognized as sufficient to meet the increased requirements of pregnant women.
Unless otherwise instructed by your doctor, take one Neopholic® tablet daily.
It is important not to miss a dose. Incorporate Neopholic® into your daily routine for consistency.

When should I start taking Neopholic®?

To support a healthy pregnancy, it is advised to start taking Neopholic® at least one month before trying to conceive and continue throughout the first three months of pregnancy. If the pregnancy is unplanned, begin taking Neopholic® as soon as you know you're pregnant. Since it is difficult to predict when conception will occur, it is recommended that all women who could become pregnant take one tablet of Neopholic® daily

Who should not take Neopholic®?

You should avoid Neopholic® if you have leukemia, except when treating a folic acid deficiency.
Do not take Neopholic® if you have had an allergic reaction to any of its ingredients. If you experience any signs of an allergic reaction, discontinue use immediately.
Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. This product should not be used as a substitute for a balanced diet.

What should I discuss with my doctor before taking Neopholic®?

Before starting Neopholic®, consult your doctor if:
• You were born with spina bifida;
• You have previously had an abnormal pregnancy that resulted in a child being born with spina bifida or another neural tube defect;
• You suffer from epilepsy and are being treated with phenobarbital, phenytoin, or pyrimidone;
• You are taking medications that affect folic acid metabolism, such as methotrexate or trimethoprim, or medications that reduce its absorption in the gastrointestinal tract, including contraceptives or anticonvulsants;
• You have had surgery to remove part of your small intestine, as this may require a higher dose of folic acid.

Are there any side effects of Neopholic®?
