What is the "happiness hormone" - serotonin?
Serotonin, also known as the “happiness hormone”, is a neurotransmitter that is produced by nerve cells and has a key role for the human body related to being involved in the transmission of nerve signals between brain cells and thus helping improve mood and feelings of happiness.
Serotonin levels are known to have a direct bearing on a number of behavioral, physiological and cognitive functions such as memory, mood, emotions, alertness, sleep, appetite and temperature regulation.
