What we should know about cough?
Cough is a natural protective reflex that helps the body remove mucus or foreign particles from the airways.
The airways (the nose, throat, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi, and lungs) are an entry point for many infectious microorganisms. As a result, very frequently the respiratory ways are most affected by infections. Coughing occurs when specific receptors in the airways are irritated. These receptors send signals to the brain, which then triggers the cough reflex to expel the irritants. In healthy individuals, coughing effectively clears the airways. However, in inflammation of the airways caused by respiratory infections such as the flu, cold, or other bacterial and viral infections, the cough reflex may not be sufficient to remove accumulated secretions. Coughs can be dry or wet.
A dry cough is not associated with increased production of mucus and is most often due to irritation in the throat and pharynx, causing distressful cough. This type of cough can be rather painful, as persistent unproductive coughing irritates and “scratches” the throat, and strains the chest muscles and the airways. As the illness progresses, a dry cough may evolve into a wet one.
A wet cough involves the production of mucus, which traps disease-causing microorganisms. The cilia in the lining of the airways help move the mucus upwards so it can be expelled through coughing. However, the mucus is often thick and sticky, making it harder to clear. This leads to mucus buildup, which can obstruct breathing and worsen the infection. Clearing the excess mucus is vital for recovery, and this process can be supported by remedies that assist in maintaining airways healthy and facilitate mucus expectoration.
Atusin® Kids is a syrup designed to support the health of the respiratory tract, including the lungs, bronchi, trachea, larynx, pharynx, and throat. It helps maintain comfort in the throat and chest while supporting normal breathing. With a pleasant taste.
Atusin® Kids combines five proven natural ingredients that work synergistically for enhanced effectiveness.
IngredientsAqueous propolis extract
PWE-MD is an aqueous extract of propolis, standardized on organic aromatic acids such as phenethyl ester of caffeic acid, ferulic acid, and cinnamic acid.
Dry extract of plantain
The standardized dry extract of Plantago lanceolata L. is derived from narrow-leaved plantain, which contains several key biologically active compounds, including iridoid glycosides, flavonoids, and phenolic acids. Recognized in the European Pharmacopoeia, this plant has been extensively studied for its positive effects on respiratory health and the epithelial lining of the respiratory tract.
Honey, glycerol and sugar
Honey, glycerol, and sugar are classic agents that provide moisture and coating to the respiratory mucosa after oral intake. They provide comfort in the throat and pharynx, supporting the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract.
