WHAT IS BPH?

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is an enlargement of the prostate which involves compressing the urethra and results in problems urinating. BPH is one of the most common prostate changes in men over 50.

It is not completely clear what exactly causes BPH. With age men tend to experience hormonal changes which disturb the balance between male and female hormones. The disturbed hormonal balance, coupled with chronic inflammation, can lead to growth of the prostate tissue and an increase in the size of the gland.

The prostate is a gland of the male reproductive system which has the shape and the size of a walnut. It is made up of gland and smooth muscle tissue. It secretes a fluid which carries semen. The prostate is situated at the base of the urinary bladder and surrounds the urethra; this is why its size matters in the process of urinating.

In a male’s lifetime, the prostate goes through two major stages of growth. The first one occurs early in puberty, when the prostate doubles in size and reaches a volume of about 20-30ml. After the age of 40, some men experience another period of prostate growth caused by a process known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

The most common symptoms of BPH include difficulty urinating, urinary frequency, especially at night, difficulty initiating the stream, poor flow, an intermittent stream, post-urination dribble, a sensation of poor bladder emptying, a compelling need to void, sometimes accompanied by urgency incontinence.

In its advanced stages, BPH can seriously disrupt the functions of the bladder, the kidneys and the patient’s sex life. This is why having a healthy prostate is of critical importance and should not be underestimated.

LIMITATIONS OF BPH TREATMENT

The most popular products for treating benign prostate enlargement are meant to alleviate urinary problems. The main shortcoming of most products available for BPH treatment is that they do not prevent the prostate from growing further. As BPH progresses, the prostate can grow so much that it comes to obstruct the urethra to the extent of making it impossible to urinate. Surgery might be required in such cases.

HOW DOES REVERTA WORK?

REVERTA relieves BPH symptoms via several mechanisms of action:

  1. It inhibits prostate growth, by blocking the secretion of inflammatory agents and in this way restores the disturbed hormonal balance.

  1. It makes it easier to urinate, improves the stream and eases the tension in the base of the lesser pelvis, by causing the smooth muscles in the prostate to relax.
  2. It relieves the feeling of heaviness in the base of the lesser pelvis, by reducing prostate swelling.
  3. It acts as a potent antioxidant in the prostate, neutralizing free radicals and keeping your prostate healthy.
  4. 5. It helps maintain your normal sex life. The zinc and selenium in REVERTA’s composition are important for the lifecycle of sperm, taking care of men’s fertility and libido.
